About me
Sarah Parkes Metaireau MBACP
I have fourteen years of clinical experience working with people from many different backgrounds. I understand how everyday events can be associated with stress and affect people’s lives, both professionally and personally, and how important self-care is. It takes courage to ask for help.
I hope the information provided here will give you an insight into what counselling involves and how I work, enabling you to take the next step in seeking professional help and finding the right counsellor for you. Sometimes we just need someone who will really listen to us and treat us with respect, so talking to a professional can be helpful. The therapeutic relationship is different to any other relationship since it is all about you.
I truly believe that people are born with the resources and ability to be in rewarding contact with other human beings, lead a satisfying, creative life and potentially have all the necessary abilities to solve their problems or face their difficulties. However, often during childhood and sometimes later on, something interrupts this process and the person becomes stuck in fixed patterns and beliefs about themselves that get in the way.
I aim to investigate and uncover how these patterns are still active and affecting a person’s present life.
I hope to assist you and empower you to find new and more creative ways to resolve the problem or crisis you are facing. I provide a safe, supportive, trusting therapeutic environment where we can explore your issues in a non-judgemental, accepting way. I offer myself as a reliable, open, honest, committed, empathic and understanding counsellor, respectfully working at your pace.
